Wrightsville Beach Hurricane Re-Entry Status for
Hurricane Florence and other Pertinent Information

Re-Entry
Beginning Wednesday, September 19th at 6:00 am, the Town will halt limited access to the island and there will be no restriction entering the island. The Town will continue to be under a mandatory curfew from 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 18th until 6:00 am on Wednesday, September 19th. A mandatory curfew will also be in effect for Wednesday, September 19th beginning at 8:00 pm until 6:00 am on Thursday, September 20th. All residents and visitors should be within their premises during this time frame. The Police have been directed to strictly enforce this curfew. The curfew was issued to help keep residents and visitors safe as all utilities are brought back on line.

Boil Water Advisory and Water Conservation
The Town asks that residents and visitors continue to conserve water until Friday, September 21st so that the Town can bring all water and sewer infrastructure back to normal operating capacity. A boil water advisory is in effect until further notice.

Police Department Patrols
The Police will continue heightened patrols for the next several days to protect property and assist in preventing unfair business practices. The Town encourages residents and visitors to refrain from swimming in the Atlantic Ocean and other water bodies for the next several days due to hidden and floating debris.

Storm Damage Debris Removal Guidance
Guidance on storm damage debris disposal can be found on the home page of the Town’s website at www.townofwrightsvillebeach.com.Generally, Hurricane Florence storm debris should be placed at the side of the road and separated in the following categories; yard waste, white goods (no food remaining in white goods/appliances and doors removed), bulk household items (furniture, mattresses, carpet), and construction debris (siding, roofing, lumber, sheetrock). Perishable refrigerator and freezer waste should immediately be tied in plastic bags and placed in the green residential garbage container for quick pick-up. Further instruction on Hurricane related debris will be disseminated over the coming days. For more information on Hurricane debris disposal, please contact the Public Works Department at (910)256-7935.

Building Permits
The Town is still continuing to assess damage to structures. Residents can do temporary non-structural repairs to their premises to keep them secure for the elements. On Thursday, September 20th and Friday, September 21st, the Planning Department will be open to accept building and plumbing permit applications between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. The Planning Department will also be open on Saturday, September 22nd and Sunday, September 23rd from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm to assist in the recovery process. All mechanical and electrical permits must be submitted to New Hanover County. CAMA permits will be issued either locally or by the Division of Coastal Management.

Power
It is anticipated that the majority of power to the island will be on beginning Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. This is contingent upon Duke Energy not running into any unanticipated issues. If you continue to not have power when others around you do, please go to Duke Energy’s website and report the outage.
