The first edition of the ISA World StandUp Paddle (SUP) and Paddleboard Championship will take place February 19-25, 2012 on the beaches of Miraflores, Lima, Peru - home to the famous Waikiki Surf Club and the cradle of modern Peruvian surfing.

The ISA decided to host the inaugural SUP and Paddleboard World Championship to further support the development of both disciplines all over the world. "We're thrilled to announce the holding of an important ISA World Championship," said ISA President, Fernando Aguerre. "StandUp Paddle surfing and racing are truly global sports and the ISA wants to support them with this yearly competition. The event also includes Paddleboarding, a classic discipline practiced by paddling prone over a board. The combination of the two, SUP and Paddleboarding, in an event in one of the world's most important surf cities, Lima, will give us an amazing competition that we all look forward to."

  • No Logos = Flat or Really Bad. Pretty much unrideable! A good time to get other things done.
  • 1 Logo = Rideable but not good form. Might not be worth the time or effort but there could be a few okay waves.
  • 2 Logos = Could be fun. Rideable and a few okay waves to be ridden.
  • 3 Logos = Fun! Better than the average day. Worth paddling out depending on the surface conditions.
  • 4 Logos = Really fun. Paddle out if you can. One of the better days of the year.
  • 5 Logos = Rare Epic or All Time conditions. Quitting work or skipping school is an option but not encouraged. Why are you still reading the report! Paddle out now!
