Offshore Oil and Seismic Survey Organizational Meeting for Concerned Citizensposted 6/5/2017 5:24:28 PM, updated 6/5/2017 5:25:10 PM
June 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join the North Carolina Coastal Federation, Oceana, the Cape Fear Chapter of the N.C. Sierra Club and the Cape Fear Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation for an offshore oil and seismic survey organizational meeting. Experts and advocates from the sponsoring groups will be discussing the issues of offshore drilling and seismic blasting with residents, community leaders and organizations that are OPPOSED to the recent executive order announced by the U.S. Department of Interior to reopen the review and permitting process in a reversal of the Obama executive order last year that closed the Atlantic to this destructive process.
The purpose of the strategic planning meeting is to discuss and put into place a plan of action needed to defeat this attempt to open up our ocean, sounds, estuaries and rivers to the potential devastating impacts of offshore drilling and seismic surveys. The goal is to leave the planning meeting with a clear understanding of who, what, how and when we need to take action to stop, AGAIN, this attempt to damage our coast.
The meeting will take place at the Northeast Branch of the New Hanover County Library in the David M. Paynter Assembly Room at 6 p.m.
