This week’s featured board, presented by Awayco, is the Sci-Fi 2.0 by Firewire Surfboards
The update for one of the best selling boards in the world has landed. Many of the same characteristics as the original Sci-Fi with some new tweaks letting it continue to be proven as a small wave prowess. Wide point forward of center giving a little more volume in a shorter length allows you to ride the board approximately 1″ shorter than the original model. More pulled in tail rocker, similar to the Cymatic, makes it more responsive allowing the design to reach a greater range of waves.
The Sci-Fi 2.0 sizes range from as small as 4’4″ at 13.5 liters to as big as 6’6″ at 45.8 liters. The sizes 4’4″ to 5’3″ are “grom sized” and come with the signature Jackson Dorian colorway. (Orange rails and teal stringer)
For some size references, here’s what some of Sweetwater’s shop staff would ride:
- Spencer = 5’10”
- Sheldon = 6’0″
- Mike = 5’11”
- Logan = 5’6″
